How to submit

Prepare your experiment

• Meet with the MEP experts
• Discuss the research question and aims of the experiment
• Define the optimal experimental design
• Prepare the samples and the requested controls

Create a MetaboApp account

• Sign-up with your email
• Confirm your account
• Log-in
• In the first log-in, update the "My infos" tab (you need to import this information once)

Fill-in requested information

Create a MetaboApp project

• Click on "New Project"
• Description: Provide a short and informative description of the project and the research question

Create one or several experiment(s) in your project. For each experiment provide the following information:

• Title: Provide a short title of your experiment
• Description: Provide a short and informative description of the experiment
• Experiment type: Select the experiment type from the drop-down menu
• Experiment pathway: If applicable, select the pathway that you want to analyze from the drop-down menu
• Comments: please provide any information of interest about the experiment

Import relevant information and samples

• Go to Metadata tab
• Sample type: Select the sample type from the drop-down menu
• Specify the type of sample amount
• Specify which is/are the organism(s) of interest for your experiment
• Annotate your experiment by attaching one or several relevant ontology terms to your experiment (ontology terms are terms with a precise definition)
• Add files of interest (e.g. protocols, relevant images (png, jpeg) hit to explain your experiment.
• Follow the instructions on the page to upload the metadata as an Excel file

Submit the experiment

• Go to the Project view
• For the experiment of interest, if all the necessary metadata have been filled, you should be able to push a Submit green button.
• This will trigger the delivery of a mail to the MEP team
• You should receive a mail when the experiment is validated with some instruction on how to proceed with the samples

Organize sample drop-off

• Send an email at mep@unil.ch to schedule the sample drop-off

Get results

• Log in to your account to see the status of your experiment(s)
• When your project is completed we will contact you via email
• Access the results through the "Files" tab
• Access the analyses through the "Analyses" tab
